In 2006 a teenager was shot in the head in the parking lot. In the same day, 2 teenagers were also arrested for throwing rocks at a bus. There is no information with regard to this matter.

The mall is considered rather upscale, but people with average incomes also visit it. The malls family-friendly amenities include a kids club, stroller rental and a community room. The Ford City mall features a 14-screen AMC cinema theater. The mall was opened in 1965. It is owned by General Growth Properties. Originally, this mallís building was used to manufacture bomber engines in the World War II. Currently there are 2 jobs available.
